Cloud Computing, in simple terms, is sharing resources on-demand over the internet. These resources include infrastructure but also software, platforms, storage, databases, and test environments.
Cloud Computing and Virtualization are often confused, but Virtualization is about technology; Cloud is about applications, features and deployment models. Virtualization allows one physical server in your Data Center to run several individual computing environments. Virtualization technology is fundamental to Cloud Computing and has many benefits, including making better use of your hardware investment. 
Cloud providers have Data Centers full of virtualized servers enabling each Cloud customer to work with a virtual instance of the same software. While both Cloud Computing and Virtualization maximize company IT resources and can possibly cut costs, Cloud services can provide additional benefits particularly for the small to medium sized organizations by granting access to applications otherwise out of reach.
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)
Is the ability for a consumer to use on demand software that is provided by the service provider via a thin client device e.g. a web browser over the Internet.

​Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)
Provides a backbone with pay-as-you-go services. IaaS is when the consumer does not deal with the infrastructure, instead the responsibility of the equipment is outsourced to the Service Provider. 
Monitoring -as-a-Service (MaaS)
Enabled the consumer to log onto a thin client or central web based dashboard which is hosted by the service provider, the consumer can monitor the status of their key applications regardless of location. 
​Communication-as-a-Service (CaaS)
Enables the consumer to utilize Enterprise level VoIP, VPNs, PBX and Unified Communications without the costly investment of purchasing, hosting and managing the infrastructure.
